New Rules for Travel to Mexico

Go to original article

HOUSTON -- Mexico's customs agency has announced new regulations for those traveling by land to Mexico over the holiday season, including an increase in the value of merchandise that can be brought into the country tax-free from $75 to $300, according to Rumbo.

The customs agency is anticipating a higher volume of travel over land as a result of an increase in the cost of airline tickets. The agency also advises travelers to take precautions against theft and assaults on their way to Mexico, and cautions against traveling at night. The new rules will be in effect through Jan. 9
