Council Bluffs artist Margaret La Bounty returned to and participated in the
invitation-only World Art Vision Expo in Cancun, Mexico, recently.
La Bounty was one of 69 artists from five continents invited to show and was
the only artist invited to represent the United States.
"This exhibition allowed me to debut a new technique which combines the
sculptural and the ethereal style of my painting," said La Bounty.
La Bounty showcased her work, "Ancient Rhythms," an acrylic done mainly in
tones of blue. La Bounty was able to attend this event due, in part, to a
grant received from the Iowa Arts Council and private sponsors.
The World Art Vision Expo ran Dec. 4-14 and featured special exhibition and
lectures by noted Mexican artists. There are World Art Vision Expo
advertisements and promotions covering the participating artists as well as
"We site" interviews currently found on YouTube.com.
La Bounty manages the Council Bluffs art event, Second Fridays, which
showcases local business, art and wine. It is held the second Friday of
every month. She will have an artist residency at the prestigious "Art Park"
in Syracuse, N.Y., this summer.
La Bounty may be contacted for a private tour of her studio/gallery at 109
Pearl St. by calling (712) 256-9511. Her work may be viewed online at
