Mexico could collapse, U.S. military fears
Mexico is under assault by criminals and could collapse quickly, says a U.S. Joint Forces Command report.
The report, intended to forecast threats, listed Pakistan and Mexico as nations that "bear consideration" for collapse.
"The Mexican possibility may seem less likely, but the government, its politicians, police and judicial infrastructure are all under sustained assault and pressure by criminal gangs and drug cartels," the report says.
The report also said: "Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response."
A Joint Forces spokeswoman told Fox News the report's purpose is not to make perfect predictions, but start a dialogue.
