Lorena Ochoa engaged to Mexican airline executive Andres Conesa
If you can't beat them, join them.
Only days after former No.1 female golfer Annika Sorenstam was married, current top-ranked LPGA player Lorena Ochoa is engaged, according to reports in her native Mexico. Let's hope Ochoa doesn't follow Sorenstam into retirement.
Ochoa, 27, will marry 39-year-old Andres Conesa, Director General of Aeromexico airline, one of her sponsors.
Local media reported Conesa popped the question late last month as the couple vacationed in Europe. Hola magazine's Mexico edition said the pair are planning a wedding at the end of this year.
Ochoa spokeswoman Monica Marron refused to divulge any details Wednesday, but noted a wedding date had been set.
It will be the first marriage for Ochoa. Conesa has three children from a previous marriage.
Ochoa, from Guadalajara, has said she wants to eventually leave golf and have children. But the two-time major champion hasn't yet mentioned plans to retire.
Sorenstam announced her retirement in 2008 and competed in her final tournament a month ago. Sorenstam, who is friends with Ochoa, married Mike McGee Saturday in Florida
