A Mexican governor is promising a complete investigation into a fire at a
day care center than left 44 children dead.
Gov. Eduardo Bours told the Televisa network that investigators will look
for the causes and find those responsible. He promises nothing will stand in
the way of revealing the truth.
Bours says investigators are sifting through the documents authorizing the
operation of the private center. It was housed in a converted warehouse
leased by the government to provide low-cost day care.
More than 30 adults and children remain hospitalized, 21 in serious
condition. Three of the most seriously injured children are being treated at
a Northern California hospital.
Health officials say a child died yesterday and another today before she was
to board a flight to California for treatment, raising the death toll to 44.
