Electronics components manufacturer Belden Inc. is closing a Virginia plant
as part of a worldwide restructuring.
St. Louis-based Belden said Monday that it will stop production at the plant
in Midlothian by July. Production will be moved to the company's plant in
Tijuana, Mexico.
The Midlothian plant's 45 workers will be eligible for severance benefits.
The plant manufactures connectors and components for industrial automation
applications.
In December, Belden announced that it planned to cut 1,800 jobs worldwide
and consolidate some manufacturing operations. The company cited softening
demand for its products.
