TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Mexico is sending a message to the rest of the World
Baseball Classic teams: Don't take our squad lightly.
Jorge De La Rosa will vouch for Mexico's prowess after giving up 11 hits and
six runs for the Colorado Rockies in a 7-3 loss Thursday.
De La Rosa, on the preliminary Mexico roster before deciding to stay with
the Rockies to cement his position in the rotation, struggled through 2 2-3
innings.
Mexico warmed up for the WBC by taking apart ace Brandon Webb for six runs
during a 19-4 victory over Arizona on Wednesday. Mexico had 16 hits against
the Diamondbacks.
Mexico finished with 14 hits against Colorado, including five straight
before De La Rosa was replaced in the third inning.
