Pemex marks three super light crude discoveries in Q1

Go to Original article

Mexican state oil company Pemex's E&P subsidiary PEP recorded three discovery wells during the first quarter of the year, all of which are producing super light crude, according to Pemex's quarterly investors report.

Pemex drilled the Bricol-1 and Cupache-1 wells at its Cinco Presidentes project in the southern marine basin. The wells showed initial production of 5,200b/d and 1,300b/d, respectively, according to the report.

The third, and largest, discovery was located in the company's Julivá project, where it drilled the Bajilum-1 well. The well had initial production of 7,200b/d.

SEISMIC

Pemex acquired 8,638km of 2D seismic data in the first quarter, up from just 711km year-on-year, according to the report.

The vast increase was due to works in the Golfo de México B project in the southern and eastern deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Total 3D seismic data acquired in the three-month period was 3,858km2, up 7.07% year-on-year.

The increase in Pemex's 3D seismic works was attributed to the Gulf of Mexico Sur deepwater project and development in the Chicontepec field, which is located in Puebla and Veracruz states.
