Carnival Cruise Lines says it will stop at Mexican ports again, now that
health officials are no longer recommending against non-essential travel to
the country.
The cruise ship operator said Friday it should begin making stops in Mexico
in mid-June, once it completes all currently scheduled travel itineraries.
Canival was one of several cruise ship operators that redirected its ships
away from Mexico in late April, as worries about the swine flu spread. The
Centers for Disease Control had recommended that people restrict any
non-essential travel to the country
Carnival Corp. said Monday that its second-quarter profit would be 5 cents
per share less because of the itinerary changes. The impact on the full-year
profit is expected to be 10 cents, but could be higher, the company warned.
It said it will continue to monitor booking trends.
Miami-based Carnival is owned by Carnival Corp. It said a ship-by-ship list
of itineraries could be found on its Web site.
